Death
GOHEEN, James A. - of Montrose and Hale, age 83, died Sunday February 3, 2008 at Medilodge of Montrose. Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday February 6, 2008 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio with Rev. Carl Petty officiating. Burial will be at Flint Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1-8 PM and on Wednesday from 12 Noon until services at 1 PM. Contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association.Jim was born April 20, 1924 in Flint to the late William and Ruth (Griffith) Goheen and was a resident of Montrose over 40 years. He served in the US Army during WW II having landed on Normandy Beach as a part of General Patton's unit. Jim married Virginia Pilgram on October 13, 1943. She preceded him in death on August 12, 1996. Mr. Goheen retired from General Motors with over 30 years seniority. He was a member of the UAW and the Montrose Masonic Lodge #428 F. & A.M. He enjoyed family, woodworking, fishing, hunting and gardening.
Surviving are: 4 children, Rosann (Paul) Schaffer of Flint, Diann (Ralph) Polcik of Clio, Kelly (Jeri) Goheen of Hale, Karen (Joe) Mason of Montrose; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters Marjorie Kitchen and Wilmetta (Edward) Fairbanks all of E. Tawas; several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a brother Arthur Goheen and a sister Marion Blakely.
