Goheen, William Lewis, of Big Rock, Illinois, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, April 20, 2012. William was born on April 25, 1918 in Topeka, Kansas. At the age of five, due to the loss of his father, he moved to Mooseheart (The Child City). He lived at Mooseheart until graduating from Mooseheart High School. Bill then obtained a position at the Merchants National Bank in Aurora where he began as a vault attendant. He worked tirelessly going to night school earning a degree from the American Institute of Banking. Thus began a long, dedicated and illustrious career as a banker. William worked at Merchants Bank for over 50 years retiring as Executive Senior Vice President at the age of 65. He continued working for the bank as a consultant for an additional five years. Bill's time at the bank was interrupted during WWII while serving proudly in the United States Army. During his career, Bill also worked as an instructor for the American Institute of Banking. William was a former member of the Moose Club, Aurora Lions Club which he served as President for two terms and Aurora Country Club. William and Rosalie were parishioners of Holy Angels for nearly 40 years. Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He thoroughly enjoyed hiking his acreage in northern Wisconsin. Bill and his wife, Rosalie, travelled and camped extensively throughout the United States. Their winter vacations in Hemet, California were particularly enjoyed by both. William is survived by his five children, Maryann (Duane) Adams, William J. (Lynda) Goheen, Susan T. Cassidy, Janice (Scott) Goheen Boerke and Kevin M. (Jean) Goheen; thirteen grandchildren, Jennifer Kurr, Heather Arneson, Michael Goheen, Brian Goheen, Stacy Ready, Brendan Smith, Erin Smith, Matt Boerke, Dr. Kyle Boerke, Logan Goheen, Megan Taylor, Angelina Goheen and Maria Goheen as well as thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty years, Rosalie Irene Goheen in 1998 and sister, Betty Rogers. A special thank you to Bill's faithful caregivers, Barbara and Donna and Provena Hospice. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 23, 2012 from 4 PM 7 PM at Healy Chapel, 370 Division Dr., Sugar Grove, IL 60554. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Holy Angels Church, corner of Lancaster and Hardin, Aurora, IL 60506. Burial will take place at West Batavia Cemetery.
