Lawrence Batta, 49, 500 S Gilmore St., Plymouth, died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday at the Marshall county Parkview hospital.
Born January 29, 1927, at Lafayette to John and Sophena Smith Batta, he was a Marshall county resident for most of his life. On April 16, 1966, he was married to Shirley Richard, who survives. His first wife, Caroline, preceded him in death in 1959. He was an employee of the Universal Bearing factory.
Surviving with his wife and mother are four children, Mary (Mrs. Tim) Blubaugh of Plymouth, Robert Batta of Bremen, and David and Brenda Batta, both at home; one brother, Everett Batta, a Marshall county resident; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Griggs of Osceola and Mrs. Marie Stultz of Twin Lakes, Mich.; and five grand children.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at the Van Gilder funeral home in Plymouth. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 until 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Burial will be in the New Oak Hill Cemetery.
