John Taylor born 29 April 1811 in North Carolina, emigrated to Madison County, Tennessee in 1831, moved to Hardeman County in 1833, died 8 April 1893. He was a farmer, a member of Hardeman County Lodge No. 420, F and A M. He was twice married, first to Isabella Savage, 21 May 1832. She was born 26 December 1814 in Kentucky, died 23 May 1856. To them were born the following children: (1) William; (2) Nancy Jane; (3) James P; (4) Giles A; (5) Mary E; (6) Martin J; (7) John; (8) Samuel; (9) Martha; (10) Wiley J; (11) Liddy Ellen.John's second marriage s to Lucy Butler Mills, 16 November 1857. he was born 15 April 1835 in North Carolina, daughter of William E and Mary Butler. She died 16 April 1903. She was first married to John Mills, Madison County, Tennessee, 9 December 1852 and had one child, Mary F Mills. John and Lucy had ten children: Samantha, Safronia, Julia A, Evie, Delia, Thomas H., Mattie and Bettie (twins), Lucy. ---by Mary Ross
