Will of David CaveBarnwell District, South Carolina
In the name of God Amen.
I David Cave of the District and State above mentioned, being weak in body, but of Sound and disposing mind, praised by God for the Same, do make, ordain & publish, this my last will and Testament.
First. It is my will & desire, that the whole of my property, consisting of about Seven hundred & Seventy eight acres of land, the following Slaves viz: Tom, Chloe, Lucy, London, Peter, Cully, Miles George, Richard and their future increase, all my household & Kitchen furniture, my Stock of hogs, Cattle, Sheep & all other property, of whatsoever Kind, real or personal, shall be divided into Six equal parts in the manner hereinafter directed: One Sixth part whereof I give and bequeath to my Son Matthew Cave absolutely & forever; the other five remaining parts of my property real or personal, I give & bequeath to my Son Mathew Cave in trust neverthe lefs, for the; use, benefit, & interest of my daughters Dorcas Kirkland, Elizabeth Nix, Martha Cave, Nancy Cave & Mary Cave in equal proportions, share & share alike & not Subject to the debts, contracts, or sale of their present or future husbands.
Secondly. It is further my will & desire that my Executor or Executors shall select three competent persons, to divide all my property real or personal into Six equal parts as I have heirs in directed either by partition or by Sale of a part or the whole of the property as they in their discretion may think fit to recommend to by Executor or Executors.
Thirdly. I do hereby nominate & appoint my friend Executor of this my last will & Testament
In witnefs whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this the twentysecond day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty four.
