Mayo Willis Bates , 72, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, was dead on arrival at 6:50 pm yesterday at a local hospital apparently of a heart attack at his job.
Bates was a native of Pilot Point and came to Corpus Christi about a week ago. He was a painting contractor and came to corpus Christi to help with repairs of a hurricane damage.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill Funeral Home of Shawnee, Okla, local arrangements under the direction of Cage-Mills Funeral Home.
Survivors are wife Ruby and son Willis Bates of Shawnee, Oklahoma
