J.P. (Bob) Kennedy 1917-2010
J.P. (Bob) Kennedy, 93, long time resident of Elfrida, Ariz., passed away on May 8, 2010.
J.P. was a Master Sgt., in the Army, during WWII. He was stationed in Camp Polk, La., which is where he met his wife, Kathleen. He served 5 years and was over the motor pool. J.P. and his family moved to Elfrida in 1948 from Deming, N.M. He and his family farmed for many years in the valley. He worked for the postal service until his retirement in 1982. He planted hundreds of pecan trees on his farm during his retirement so he would have something to do. He and Kathleen traveled all over the world on farm tours and enjoyed many trips with friends from her hometown of Natchitoches, La.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kathleen Kennedy, one daughter, Sandra (Harvey) Allen; three grandchildren, Carrie (Ted) Lanier, Cheryl (Carlos) Ogas, Brian (Diane) Allen; five great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews, his brother Gene (June) Kennedy, cousins and many friends. J.P. was preceded in death by his twin brother J.C. (Ike Kennedy), his great-grandson Steven Ramirez, his sister Vera Mae Anderson, and his parents Luther and Ethel Kennedy.
A visitation will be held at Westlawn Chapel on Thursday, May 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. Graveside Services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 14 at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista, Ariz. Contributions may be made to the Casa de la Paz Hospice, 300 El Camino Real, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635.
Services entrusted to Westlawn Chapel, Mortuary and Crematory of Willcox, Ariz."
