Allen Edward Coursey
Funeral for former Frederick resident Allen Edward Coursey, 79, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Orr Gray Gish Chapel with Jerry McKinley officiating.
Mr. Coursey died Friday, July 23, 2010, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Burial will be at Frederick Memorial Cemetery under direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home.
He was born March 23, 1931, in Chattanooga to Oliver Jackson and Ethel Altie Calhoun Coursey. He grew up in the Chattanooga, Frederick and Davidson vicinities, attending school at Victory. He lived in Roswell, N.M., from 1947 until he was drafted in the c He was honorably discharged as a sergeant first class on June 13, 1955, at Fort Lewis, Wash. He received the National Defense Service Medal. He married Melba Lois Holloway on Sept. 2, 1953, in Comanche. They moved to Frederick in 1955, where he lived and worked in the auto body repair business. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Frederick.
Survivors include his wife, Melba; two daughters and a son-in-law: Lois Allene and Pat Gammage and Meredith Ann Coursey, all of Wichita Falls, Texas; and two grandchildren: Joshua Patrick Gammage and Anna Zhou Gammage, both of Wichita Falls, Texas.
He was preceded death by his parents and a brother, Ernest Coursey.
