"The Oldest native of these United Counties died at his residence, ELgin St. Born in 1798 on L35, Con2, he owned the farm on which he was born at the time of his death. His father, the late Thomas Goheen, was a U.E.L., a native of the State of Pennsylvania; removed from Philadelphia shortly after the close of the American Revolution and settled in Township of Hamilton. Mr Goheen assisted in clearing the land where Port Hope now stands, He was a quite, inoffesive man who never mingled in politics. He leaves a widow four sons, four daughters and a large number of grandchildren."Endnotes
