They resided in Mifflin and Center Counties of Pennsylvania.Robert Gardner served as a private soldier in the Continental Line in the Revolutionary War and also as a Lieutenant of Militia.

Will
In the Name of God, Amen, I, Robert Gardner of Ferguson Township, County of Centre and State of Pennsylvania, wheelright, being in perfect health of body and of sound mind and memory and understanding blessed be God for this same, but considering the uncertainty of Transitory life do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form Williams following to viz., principally and first of all I commend my Immortal soul into the hands of God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner at the discretion of my executors herein after named and as to Such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I give and dispose of the same in the following manner viz., first it is my will and I do order that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently after my decease, and as I have heretofore conveyed to the heirs of my son James Gardner what I consider their full share I have likewise conveyed to my son William Gardner a part of my real estate by deed bearing date. The same to be in full of his share of all my estate real and personal and the remainder of my estate real and personal I do order and direct that my executors or the survivor of them shall as soon after my decease as convenient sell and dispose of the same for the best price that can be gotten for the same and I do authorize and empower my said executors or the survivor of them to sign, seal, execute and acknowledge all such deed or deeds of conveyance as may be required for the granting and assuring the same to the purchasers or purchaser in fee simple and the money arising from such sale it is my will and I do order and direct it to be paid to my four other children that is to say George Thompson and Isabela his wife, Joseph Goheen and Jean his wife, Thomas Johnston and Sarah Maria his wife, and Elizabeth McIlroy or their heirs or the survivors of them to be equally divided into four shares and each of them to share alike after paying all my just debts and necessary expenses, that may accrue thereon. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Johnston my chest of drawers and my bed and bedding and bedstead.And lastly I nominate, constitute and appoint my Friend William Bailey, my son William Gardner and John Bailey to be the executors of this my last will revoking all other wills, legacies and bequests by me heretofore made and declaring this and no other to be my last will and testament. In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this second day of May 1825.
