Birth
Hicks, George died at Attleborough, Pa., Dec 11, 1833, age 97 years, 3 months. He was born Sept 11, 1736, near Quakertown, his parents being of the Society of Friends, who emigrated from England. At the age of 27, Mr. Hicks married Mary Goheen, and settled in Bensalem Township, where he raised a family of one son and six daughters, all of whom are living. He leaves 55 grandchildren and 108 great-grandchildren. He was buried in Johnson's burial ground in Bensalem, alongside his wife. (dated Jan 18)Marriage
George Hicks Taylor and Richard Goheen both of Bucks County Pensilvania Province are holden and do ftand juftly indebted unto his Excellency Willm Franklin Esq Gist over the Coltry of New Jersey in tghe Sum of Five Hundred Pounds, of current lawful Money of New Jerfey; to be paid to his Succeffors or Affign: For the which Payment well and truly to be made and done, We do bind over felved them, Joyntly and Severally firmly by thefe Prefents. Sealed with our Seals: Dated this Eleventh DAy of October AD 1763The Condition of this Obligation is fuch, That whereas the above-bounded George Hicks hath obtained Licence of Marriage for himwelf of the one Party, and for Mary Goheen Spinster of the other Party: Now, if it fhall not hereafter appear, that they the faid George Hicks and Mary Goheen have any lawful Let or Impediment, of Pre-contract, Affinity or Confanguinity, to hinder their being joined in the Holy Bands of Matrimony, and afterwards their living together as Man and Wife; then this Obligation to be void, or elfe to ftand and remian in full Force and Virtue.
