Marriage
Mr Fred Kerber and Miss Arlene Scott were united in marriage at the M E church at 7 o'clock Tuesday morning. Rev M L Sunderlin officiated. Only the parents and brothers of the bride were present to witness the ceremony.The couple left on an auto trip, and after enjoying a short wedding trip will return home, and establish their home. They have rented apartments in the Vaughan-Dailey block and will begin housekeeping at once.
The bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs E J Scot. She is tone of our city's most popular young ladies. Her manner and demeanor are in her favor, while her personality and character will and respect and esteem of all. he has been teaching school since her graduation and has ranked high in her profession.
The groom is one of our popular young businessmen. He is a perfect gentleman at all times and under all circumstances. He is frugal, industrious, honest and absolutely reliable.
A bright future is the promise held out to these young people.
The Tribune is pleased to congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Kerber and wish them all the good things life affords
Death
Fred W Kerber, 78, Emmetsburg, founder of Kerber Milling Company, died Sunday at St Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.Mr Kerber has been hospitalized only a short tie before his unexpected death. Funeral services will be held his Tuesday at 10:30 am from the United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg.
Former minister of United Methodist Rev Chester Guinn, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Fred Kerber came to Palo Alto County as a teenager with his parents, John and Tena Kerber, from Illinois. He farmed all his life and as still active in farming at the time of his death.
In September of 1922, Mr Kerber founded Kerber Milling Company which has grown to become one of the leading manufactures of livestock feeds in Northwest Iowa.
Mr Kerber was born on Aug 21, 1895, in Illinois. He came to Emmetsburg as a teenager and n July 10, 1928, he married Arlene Scott in Emmetsburg.
He is survived by his two sons, Phil, and John, both of Emmetsburg; seven grandchildren and two brothers, Paul of Emmetsburg and John d Kerber of Fairmont, Minn. Also one sister, Mrs George Orsborn of Emmetsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Joe and Bill Kerber and two sisters, Leona and Mana.
Organist for the service ill be Mrs Lawrence Johnson and casket bearers are Parnell Stevens, Harlan Place, Phil Stillman, Greg Bormann, Wayne Davis and Jin Olson. Martin Bails Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
