Tyrone feels the loss of a progressive, useful and esteemed citizen in the death of Frank K. Troutwine, Esq., at his home, 401 Washington avenue, Hillcrest, on Christmas morning at 6:15 o'clock, of influenza pneumonia. Mr. Troutwine caught a heavy cold about ten days ago and seemed to have it under good control when he suffered a relapse early last week and influenza pneumonia set in. Everything known to medical science was made use of combating the disease, but its gradual inroads weakened the heart and his passing occurred early Christmas morning, bringing the deepest sorrow to is home and to his large circle of friends.
Frank King Troutwine was a son of J. Leonard and Francis May (Grove) Troutwine. He was born in Tyrone on May 3, 1892, and resided here all his life, with the exception of the time spent at universities and college, gaining knowledge that fitted him for the life work that he was so successfully following when death called him.
On October 4, 1922, he was united in marriage with Miss Elizabeth Goheen, the wedding ceremony being celebrated in the First Presbyterian church, Tyrone, by Rev. Walter K. Harnish, pastor of the Sinking Valley Presbyterian church. Mrs. Troutwine with two daughters, Patricia G. and Christine, survive the death of this loving and devoted husband and father, along with the parents, Mr. And Mrs. J. Leonard Troutwine, who feel most keenly the going away of a son in whom they found much joy and comfort.
The deceased was a young man of lovable personality, full of cheeriness of human kindness, yet withal firm for the right and dauntless in courage. He was devotedly attached to his family, their welfare and happiness and being the greatest desire of his heart. Taking lively interest in public affairs, he was a useful, public citizen.
Mr. Troutwine was a intelligent student and a man of high ideas. For his many endearing qualities he will be remembered with tenderness in the home and in the community at large.
After finishing a course in the Tyrone schools, Mr. Troutwine entered Franklin and Marshall Preparatory Academy at Lancaster, where he studied for two years, after which he entered Franklin and Marshall college, where he graduated, finishing his education that fitted him as a lawyer at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, Philadelphia. He came home with his college degrees in 1916 and at once was admitted to the courts of Blair county and Pennsylvania for the practice of his profession. He was a successful attorney, having the confidence and affairs of a large number of clients to look after.
Mr. Troutwine was a member Trinity Episcopal church since boyhood days. At the time of his death, and for years past, he was treasurer and a vestryman in the Tyrone church and was active and useful in the many affairs of Trinity. He was a member of Tyrone lodge 494, Free and Accepted Masons, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the Blair County Bar Association, Howard Gardner post No. 281, American Legion, and the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity of Franklin and Marshall college. Mr. Troutwine was president of The Sterling Lime and Stone Company, a new industry recently instituted in Tyrone.
Funeral services will be held at Trinity Episcopal church on Friday afternoon, at 2:30, conducted by the rector, Rev. Clifford Leland Stanley, assisted by Rev. Frank T. Cady of Charlestown, West Virginia, former pastor of Mr. Trowtine. Interment will be made in the Eastlawn cemetery.
The body will be taken to the church at the noon hour on Friday where it will lie in state until the services at 2:30.
