"On November 16, 1886, he married Miss Carrie Verhage, daughter of Sebastian and Johanna Verhage. She was born in Ottawa County, Michigan, on December 24, 1860. At the age of 11 years she came to Kansas with her parents, who settled on Oak Creed, near Dispatch.
