In the Name of God, I John Lutz of Haines Township Northumberland County State of Pennsylvania black Smith being very sick and weak in Body but of perfect mind and all many thanks be given unto God calling unto mind the Mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed to all men once to die I do make and ordain this last will and Testament – First of all I give and recommend my Soul unto the Hand Almighty God that gave it – and my Body be commend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian Burial at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty Force of God – as touching such worldly Estate where with it be the places God to help me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner as to form – First I give and bequeath to Elizabeth my Dearly beloved wife all my _asmal Estate accept my Blacksmith Tools for the space of twelve years or while she is a Widow, to have and to take all benefits for the bringing up the small children and support of my Family. Smith Tools to be sold to the best advantage and an Incetussion to ------- four weeks of my death and to be returned to the proper Officer for the aforementioned County – and further I give my Executors and full Power to sell a certain quantity acres of Land of the West end of my Place taken to best advantage for to pay the Debt to that is due or be become due on my Land and I give full Power to by beloved Wife Elisabeth to give a Lawfull deed of Conveyance for the same – Further after the above mentioned time or twelve years is expired I give my Executors full Power and Authority to Sell all Real and Personal Estate and the one third of the same to give to my beloved wife Elizabeth for her on proper use and behalf during life and after her decmise it shall fall to my Children and to be divided in equal Shares, and the other two thirds is to be divested in eight Shares that is to say to my Eldest Son, John shall be entitled to ten pounds more than his equal Share and my Second Son George and third Son Jacob and my eldest Daughter Elioner and Second Daughter Elisabeth and my third daughter Catharine and my fourth Daughter Susana and my Fifth Daughter Sarah the are all to have an equal Share of my Real and Personal Estate – further I do hereby nominate and appoint and ordain by beloved wife Elisabeth to be an Executor with full power to give deeds of Conveyances of my Land when sold as above described with the consent of my other two Executors which I nominate and apint Nicholas Gost and Michael Motz - And I do hereby testify and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have subscribed set my Hand and Seal this twenty seventh Day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety three – John Lotz Signed in the Presence of Jacob Stober, Frederick Stober, Jacob Hosterman – Northumberland County ss. - Before me the Subscriber Register for the County aforesaid on the twenty ninth day of October A. Dom.
Personally cometh Frederick Stober and Jacob Hosterman two of the subscribing Witnesses to the for going Will or Testament of writing, and made oath on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God that they say John Lotz subscribe with his own hand his name to the same and heard him publish and declare it to be his last Will and Testament, and that they together with Jacob Stober subscribed their names as Witnesses to the same. That this happened in the sickness of the said John Lotz and that he was at the time of so doing of sound and disposing mind and Memory. - In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my Hand this day and year aforesaid – J. Simpson Reg.
