1. Gene Truelove recorded mothers comments., Verbal information given to me by my mother Jessie Rosa Brown Truelove. Some sessions were taped. Her memory at the time was very clear. She was a close friend of Irma (daughter), and her mother was a close relative of John Anerson Weathers. , Mother heard both daddy and his mother say that he was born in (his) grandmother Charity Dennis' home. Mama and Papa Truelove lived with grand Charity after they were married. Grandma Charity lived in Chalk Level (near the Chalk Level post office) and very close to what is now Chalk Level Church (1995), a negro church. Chalk Level was once a triving place and the only post office for miles around. It is just off Cokesbury Road, Harnett County, NC; 2-3 miles down River Road. Mrs Josephine Dewar lives very close to where grandma Charity's house sit. her grandfather John A. Truelove was a neighbor, and would do things to help them because grandma was a widow living off $50/month, a civil war pention, and was raising two of her grand children, grandma Bessie and aunt Lula..
