Philippa Plantagenet, Countess of Ulster was born on 16 August 1355 at Eltham Palace, Kent, England.2 She was the daughter of Lionel of Antwerp, 1st Duke of Clarence and Lady Elizabeth de Burgh.3,4 She married Edmund de Mortimer, 3rd Earl of March, son of Roger de Mortimer, 2nd Earl of March, circa May 1368 at Reading Abbey, Queen's Chapel, Reading, Berkshire, England.2 She died on 5 January 1381/82 at age 26.4 She was buried at Wigmore, Herefordshire, England.2 Her will was proven (by probate) on 6 December 1379.5
She gained the title of Countess of Ulster. She succeeded to the title of 13th Lady of Clare [feudal baron] in 1363.4 From circa May 1368, her married name became de Mortimer.
