Henry Posthuma, 72, of N8340 Hickory Lane Road, Beaver Dam, died Thursday, April 8, 1999 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, April 12, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. William Key will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, with military graveside conducted by the John E. Miller American Legion Post #146 of Beaver Dam.
Mr. Posthuma was born July 6, 1926 in the township of Courtland, son of August and Jessie (Dykstra) Posthuma. He was married to Leona Young on July 2, 1960 in Chicago, Ill.
He was a resident of the Beaver Dam area most of his life, attended the Jess Country School, the Randolph High School and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, worked as an inspector at John Deere Horicon Works for 23 years, before retiring in 1987, and was also a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.
Survivors include his wife, Leona Posthuma of Beaver Dam; three sisters, Margaret (Henry) White Jr. of Fox Lake, Winnetta Braaksma of Randolph, Evelyn (Jerry) Lively of Madison, Wis.; his grandsons, Scott Metzdorf of North Carolina and Ryan Metzdorf of Horicon; two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Juliette Posthuma.
Friends may call on Sunday, April 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, with a parish vigil services at 7:45 p.m.
