Marriage
Nathan was a blacksmith by trade. He married Esther Rhoads, as shown by the records of the First Presbyterian Church of Philadelphia. As his marriage was accomplished contrary to the usage of Friends, he was required to make acknowledgementfor his "outgoing," which he made 11 mo. 31, 1742, to Abington Monthly Meeting.He settled in Whitemarsh Township, now included in Montgomery County, where he died in 1754. His will was made May 31, 1754, and proven October 1, in the same year, is recorded at Philadelphia. He was buried in the Friends graveyard at Plymouth, a few miles from Conshohocken. A small tombstone, with the initials of N.P., still marks his resting place. Esther Potts, was living in 1780, when the assessment list for Plymouth Township states that Zebulon Potts has an aged mother to support.
