Raymond Kunshek, 87, a lifelong farmer and rancher of rural Girard, Kansas, died Saturday evening, February 20, 2010.

He was born February 10, 1923, in Edison, Kansas, son of Tony, Sr. and Sophie (DeGruson) Kunshek. He attended Bethany School at rural Girard.
He married Ernestine Reith on November 21, 1953, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Girard. She survives of the home.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church; the Sherman Township Board, where he served on the election board and the rural fire department; a past president of the Crawford County Farm Bureau; a charter member of the 4-State Angus Association and a 4-H club leader.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Ernestine, are sons Chuck Kunshek and Angela and Bill Kunshek and Susan all of Girard; daughters Diana Henderson and Don of Springfield, Missouri, Connie Murphy and Brent of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Alice Miller and Don of Olathe, Kansas; 15 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter; a sister, Ann Fager; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers Tony Kunshek, Jr. and Henry Kunshek, and a sister, Marguerite Benelli.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard, with Pastor Mark Wenzelburger officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at rural Hepler, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., Tuesday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard, where friends may call after 3:00 p.m., Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church and these may be left at the church or the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 West St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
