Melvin Fred Watts, age 95, of Harrison, Arkansas, died Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Highlands of Harrison at Tims in Harrison. He was born August 14, 1918, at Marshall, Arkansas, to Albert Lannie and Verna (Redman) Watts. Along with his parents, his first wife, Marcelia Horton Watts, preceded him in death.

Fred served a total of 3 years in the United States Navy during World War II as a Gunnery Instructor at Little Creek, Virginia with the last eighteen months being Armed Guard and Sea Duty crossing the Atlantic Ocean and in the Pacific Ocean.
After World War II, Fred was parts manager for Milam Motors in Harrison for eleven years and retired in 1980 as store manager for Crow-Burlingame Company in Harrison.

Fred became a faithful member of Eagle Heights Baptist Church on Mother's Day, 1959, and attended the Men's Sunday School Class. He was an avid bass fisherman, follower of Razorback sports, and loved to cook fish for his family and friends.

Fred is survived by his wife, Lee (Horton) Watts, of Harrison, whom he married November 19, 1977, at Marshall, Arkansas. He is also survived by two sons, Donnie Watts and wife Bobbye of Pearcy, Arkansas and Mike Watts and wife Ronda of Jonesboro, Arkansas; two grandsons, Marshall Watts of Queens, New York, and Murray Watts and wife Laken of Paragould, Arkansas; and a great-grandson, Mack Alexander Watts, of Paragould, Arkansas.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, July 30, at 10:00 A.M. at Roller-Christeson with burial to follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
