George Willis "Bucky" Horton was the son of William Horton (1795-1835) and America (Cheek) Horton Helton (1802-1880). His mother America's birth place is unknown. George was the grandson of Isaac Horton, Sr (1759-1854). Born March 28, 1828 in Martins Mills, Wayne County, Tennessee. Died July 13, 1914 in Big Creek, Searcy County, Arkansas. Age 86. Married Hannah Elizabeth Martin (1833-1857) about 1849. They had 6 children (S.W. 1850, Frances E. 1851, William Nathaniel 1853, Sarah Jane 1854 (twin), Isaac James 1854 (twin), Hannah Elizabeth 1856) before she died suddenly in 1857 (burial unknown). After his wife's death George remarried to Malinda Caroline Horton the same year 1857. Malinda Horton was George Horton's first cousin (she was the daughter of Nathaniel Ananias Horton who was the brother of George's father William Horton). They had 8 children together (Mary Charlotte 1859, Marion A. 1860, George Willis Jr. 1863, Anderson Shelton 1864, Andrew Wayne 1866, Rachel Malinda 1867,and Ozias Urban in 1873). George Willis Horton served during the Civil War for the union army in Tennessee. He was a private in the 2nd Tennessee Mounted Infantry Company B. He is buried in the Shiloh Cemetery located in Searcy County, Arkansas. Buried next to him second wife Malinda Caroline Horton.(Note: George Horton's middle initial on his tombstone is an "M" all records indicate his middle name was in fact Willis)
