The will of John Logsdon of Coleston and Roxton, 20 March, 1553

Provisions:

1. Be buried in Roxton

2. To the Master Vicar for tithes he leaves 3 shillings and 4 pence. 20 pence to be paid by Julian my wife and 20 pence to be paid by Charles my son.

3. Julian gets house, and pastures with all possessions in Coleston Cholinestorne-Chalston, a hamlet near Roxton as long as she remains unmarried and to do the repairs. If she weds the house and land go to Thomas my son upon condition he pays Julian my wife 13 shillings, 4 pence by the year at the feast of the enunciation 3-25 and the feast of the archangel Michael, 9-29.

4. Leaves wife 6 of best beasts

5. Thomas, his son, gets one yoke of oxen and bold black and white two horses. 3 acres of barley, 2 acres in the tilth field leaves it to fallow and 2 acres in the Brachefield.

6. Richard, his son, gets 2 black steers, 2 acres in tilth field, and one acre in the Brachefield.

7. Jo, his son, gets one steer Bullock with a cow and 40 shillings which was left to him by William, my brother. He also gets 1 close, 3 rods of land, 1 rod of meadow in the summer mead field, 2 acres of barley in tilth and 2 acres barley in the Brachefield.

8. Robert, his son, gets a cow, 2 acres of barley in the tilth field and 2 acres of barley in the Brachefield.

9. Edward, his son, gets 1 Bullock, 2 acres of barley in the tilth, and 2 acres and Barley in the Brachefield
