Eystein "The Noisy" Glumra, Jarl of the Uplanders

(788 - )

According to Wikipedia:

Øystein Glumra (Øystein Glumra, Øystein Ivarsson) was a small Norwegian king in Oppland or Western Norway in the ninth century. He was the father of Sigurd Øysteinsson, Earl of the Orkney Islands [2], and Ragnvald Øysteinsson Mørejarl [3] [4]In the introduction to the saga of the Orkney Islands, written down in the 13th century, a mythical story is given about the lineage of the Earls of Orkney, and of Øystein Glumra, father of the first earl. According to this, he will descend from the natural deity Fornjot, father of Kåre, father of Froste, father of Snø the old, father of Torre, father of Gor, father of Heite, father of Sveide sjøkonge, father of Halvdan the old, father of Ivar Opplendingejarl who was Øystein's father. We do not know what is historical and what is mythical, but probably Øystein was earl or petty king in the Oppland in Harald Hårfagre's time, ie the last half of the ninth century [5].It is claimed that Øystein was married to a daughter of Ragnvald Heidumhære, Harald Hårfagre's cousin and king of Vestfold.References^ The Peerage, listed as Eystein 'the Noisy' Glumra, Jarl of the Uplanders, The Peerage person ID p10478.htm # i104779, visited October 9, 2017^ Snorre Sturlason, Olav den helliges saga, kap. 96^ Snorre Sturlason, Harald Hårfagres saga, kap. 10^ Snl, Ragnvald Øysteinson^ Orknøyingenes saga, kap. 1-3
