Friedrich I, Count of Vianden

Friedrich I of Vianden was Count of Vianden , Vogt of Prüm and Sub-Vogt of Trier until 1150 . He was the older brother of Count Gerhard von Klerf .
He had at least four children:

In 1141 Frederick was in a conflict about the membership of the Abbey of St. Maximin against Henry IV of Luxembourg when he appeared with an army at the gates of Trier. Friedrich was able to prevent the city from falling through diplomatic channels and Heinrich withdrew after sacking the area. In the same year, Frederick received half of Arras Castle as a fief from Archbishop Albero, probably as thanks for these services in the conflict against Luxembourg . In the following years, the Count of Luxembourg moved against the city of Trier several times, but without Friedrich von Vianden intervening further, since since 1142 Hermann von Stahleck , Count Palatine of the Rhine, was of age and thus exercised the Upper Bailiwick of Trier.
A few years later, when the relations between the County of Vianden and the Archdiocese had cooled down towards the end of the Trier-Luxembourg conflict, Friedrich occupied Arras Castle completely. In the following years he used this to go on raids deep into the archbishopric. However, the count later lost this base, reconciled with Archbishop Albero and again took up a position at his court.
