Donald was a credit manager for Central Maine Power Company. He joined CMP in 1934. He was educated at Colby College in Waterville, Maine and attended the Oak Grove Seminary. He was a World War II veteran. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity, he belonged to Atlantic Lodge, Royal Arch Masons, Portland Council of Consistory, Portland Commandry, Knights Templar and the Kora Shrine.
