BREWER WAUGH THORNE

Brewer Thorne enlisted in the 140th Overseas Battalion (later the 26th Battalion) on 22 Mar 1916 at West Saint John. He stated that he had previous service (militia) with the 8th Hussars from Sussex. He described himself as a farmer and listed his next of kin as Sadie M. Thorne. He was 5' 8" tall. He was wounded during the war and could not return to active farming. After a period of convalescence he became the postmaster in Havleock for many years. He was a Deacon in the Baptist Church, chaplain of the Havleock Branch of the Royal Canandian Legion and a past master of the Loyal Orange Lodge #97.
