Ralph graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 1968 with a B.A. degree, and in 1972 with a B.Ed. degree. He started teaching in 1945 in Juniper NB for two years, then 8 years at New Albert School in Saint John NB, then 28 years at Princess Elizabeth School, also in Saint John. He was Principal from 1967 to 1983, retiring in June 1983. He moved to Digbby NS in 1988.
