IRENE EVELYN SIMPSON

(16 May 1907 - )

Irene was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and spent her early years there, where she studied piano, and showed unusual talent for that instrument. In 1922 she removed to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan with her family, where she took her teacher training at the Saskatoon Normal School. Before her marriage she taught school in Biggar and Unwin SK.

She married Lloyd Lahey, Section Foreman, and later Road Master at Jasper AB and Kindersley SK. Lloyd's ancestry can be found in D.T. Lahey, The Laheys of March Ontario.

In 1960 Lloyd and Irene retired to Edmonton, Alberta. Irene then renewed her teaching certificate, and taught in the Edmonton Public School System until her retirement in 1972. In 1994 she removed to Calgary, Alberta.

She is the great-great-great granddaughter of Sir George Simpson, Governor of Rupert's Land, 1820-1860. Her Simpson lineage can be found in D.T. Lahey, The Descendants of Sir George Simpson.
