On 9 Feb 1906 he was granted 100 acres at lot 49 above Coles Island, in the area called Phillipstown, where Rance and Sadie lived until Sadie's death in the birth of the second child, "Rance then moved to the States, and was killed by a truck in Florida around 1940."
