The newspaper report of Lee's death sums up his life:

The death of Lee Harold Ryder occured suddenly at his Havelock residence following a heart seizure. Better known as Pat, he was born and loived his entire life in Havelock. In his younger days, Mr. Ryder was a fox rancher and horse-racng enthusiast, owning and driving his own horses for many years. He was a financier by occupation, lending money to many in the Havelock area when they could not get a loan at the bank.
