He is recalled as "a generous, kind man who helped his relatives during hard times in the Depression. He cared for his father and mother, as there was no social security at that time. He was a first class mechanic at Forest City Motors in Portland, and later started his own repair business. After WWII Seaman and his family moved to California, where he worked in the aircraft industry." [Roy and Geneva Ryder]
