HENRY OWEN MCQUOID

Jan 25, 1911, leapt into a runaway buggy in St. Andrews and saved the day, and little Miss Marjorie Clark, daughter of Captain Clark, buggy owner! Graduated 1st Class Charlotte County Grammar School in 1911 and gave valedictorian speech, still exists in Charlotte County Archives. Spent many years in 1950's and 1960's on School Board and Town Council, as well as St. Andrews Amateur Athletic Assoc. Got congratulatory letters from Mayor and Lady Beaverbrook in 1967 for running the Sir James Dunn Ambulance for many years. In same year, got 30 year service certificate from Kiwanis Club.

Occupation Garage/Taxi/Filling Station Manager (and town ambulance and hearse?) and later owner,1 died 4/5 Nov 1970 in Saint Andrews, Charlotte County, New Brunswick. Awarded a Centennial Medal, 1967, now in possession of C.C. Archives. Lived on Queen St. VP of Heather Curling Club. Devoted member of Greenock Church. President of St. Andrews Arena. Member of St. Andrews Cemetery Association.

Owned the Dunn-McQuoid house, historic landmark, on 126 Water Street until 1976, when purchased by New Brunswick Housing Corporation.
