He was killed in a car-train accident in Petitcodiac. He had been married that fall. The news report of the event reads, "The accident occured when a car in which the victim was the sole occupant collided with a freight train which was travelling from Havelock to Petitcodiac on a spur line between the two centers, at the crossing near Petitcodiac High School."
