MAMIE KING COREY

(22 Jun 1889 - Jun 1975)

Stanley Corey says, "She was taken into the home of George C. and Isabella Drysdale Watson of Hartland NB, and brought up by them. Though she was referred to as an "adopted daughter" there is no indication that formal adoption papers were taken out. The mother of George C. Watson was Emily Jane Cory, and the mother of Isabella Drysdale was Margaret Peters Cory, and they were first cousins of the Gagetown NB Cory family. If any relationship existed between this family and the Gideon Corey family of New Canaan, it would be very remote. Mamie married Elmer Alexander, and they lived in Saint John, where she died in 1975. Their daughter, Enid Isabella Alexander, was living in Washington DC in 1976." [Corey Book]
