[ref. Kings County Record 12 August, 1792 - "The Parish of Havelock - Among the most successful of our medical practitioners is Dr. B.S. THORNE. Born in Butternut Ridge in 1844, he received his early education at such schools as the place then afforded. At 17 he entered the seminary where he remained three years, after which he went to New York and entered a medical college, where he graduated with special distinction before he was 21 years of age. Mr. Thorne then practiced his profession about three years and then took a course in Bellevue Medical Hospital. After passing a successful examination he opened an office at Havelock Corner, but his buildings were destroyed by fire and he removed to Sackville where he now resides.
