FANNIE M. RIDER

Fremont Rider book: In her teens she was smitten with tuberculosis, but she went on a Spartan regimen for years with Yankee doggedness, conquered it, and lived, unmarried to a ripe old age. Part of the regimen was driving, in all weathers, in her brother-in-law's taxi service.
