LAFAYETTE - Alta LeFleur Morgan, 86, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, in Lafayette Care Center. She was a native of Hayes, and she lived most of her early life in Lake Charles. She lived in Indian Bayou for 20 to 25 years and then moved to Lafayette. She worked in Poupart's Bakery in Lafayette for 14 years, during which time she enjoyed making many lifelong friends. She will be remembered for her excellent skills at cooking and baking, and she leaves behind many wonderful memories of family gatherings. The family would like to thank Maison de Lafayette Nursing Home, Louisiana Extended Care Hospital, Lafayette Care Center and Hospice of Acadiana for the excellent care they provided. Survivors include one son, Gordon Reed of Wichita, Kan.; one daughter, Janie Morgan of Rayne; two grandchildren, Cody Short of Rayne and Jerry Reed of Lafayette; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mayo and Eva LaFleur; three brothers, Ellis, Stanley and Leroy LaFleur; and one sister, Aline Alexander. Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, in Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. The Rev. Stephen LaFleur, nephew of the deceased, will officiate. Burial will be in Reed Cemetery in Mamou. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
