Obituary: CROWLEY- Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2008 at First United Methodist Church in Crowley for Barbara Gillis Hoffpauir, 86, widow of the late Harold Lloyd Hoffpauir, who passed away Friday morning in Metairie, LA. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley. Officiating for the service will be the Reverend Dale Hensarling, pastor of First United Methodist. A native of Ball, LA, Mrs. Hoffpauir grew up in Alexandria. A talented vocalist, she was the star of her own radio show in Alexandria, and then attended Louisiana State Normal Teacher's College (now Northwestern State) where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music and Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge where she earned a Master's Degree in Music Education. She dedicated her professional life to teaching music to generations of students in the Acadia Parish Schools, teaching both vocal and instrumental music for over 30 years. Mrs. Hoffpauir was also the long-time choir director at the First United Methodist Church. Loved by many, she will be missed. Barbara dedicated her personal life to her family. She is survived by her two daughters, Candace Hoffpauir of Metairie and Lisa Hoffpauir of Crowley; three grandsons, Wesley Pitts, Jason Pitts and Ryan Pitts, and four great grandchildren, her namesake Mary Barbara Pitts, Patrick Pitts, Guy Mathieu Pitts and Anna Pitts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lloyd Hoffpauir; two brothers, Benjamin Gillis and Anthony Gillis; and three sisters, Helen Davis, Effie Hains, and Margaret Lewis. Visitation will be observed from 2 -9 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2008 and again on Monday morning from 10 a.m. until services.
