Death

Obituary: Ernest "Chile" Westlund, 66, died Friday, July 16, 2010, in a local hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of Carlyss. He was a member of the Boilermaker's Union and attended Wesley United Methodist Church. Chile loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed spending time outdoors - fishing, hunting, trapping, and being in his boat. He worked in construction for over 45 years. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Elaine Westlund of Carlyss; two daughters, Debra Vaughan and husband, Ronald, and Jennifer Hoffpauir and husband, Brent, all of Carlyss; three brothers, Alton Westlund of Sulphur, Herman Westlund of Carlyss, and Rodney Westlund of Eunice; two sisters, Dolores Westlund of Vidor, Texas and Teddy Westlund of Carlyss; five grandchildren, Danielle Westlund, Caitlyn Vaughan, Sarah Hoffpauir, Justin Vaughan, and Christopher Adams; and two great-grandchildren, Bradyn Hosea and Jude Hosea. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Enola Westlund; a daughter, Janie Adams; a sister, Annette Westlund; and a grandchild, Cassandra Adams. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 19, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Peggy Foreman will officiate. Burial will be in Dutch Cove Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday with a rosary at 6 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.
