Shirley Lawrence Perry

SULPHUR - Shirley L. Perry, 87, died Monday Oct. 7, 2002 in a local hospital. Mr. Perry was a native of Indian Bayou. He was a member and served on the Board of Deacons at the Houston River Baptist Church. He retired in 1977 from Firestone as an operator. Prior to working at Firestone, he worked for Union Sulphur Oil Company. After his retirement, he enjoyed working at the Houston River Baptist Church. He loved working outdoors. Survivors include one son, Steve L. Perry of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three daughters, Wynell Widcamp of Westlake, Loretta Pardue of Seminole, Ala., and Elaine Westlund of Carlyss; one sister, Ethel Simmons of Carlyss; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Houston River Baptist Church. The Rev. Lonnie Gothrup will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Sulphur under direction of Hixon-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is at the funeral home 5-9 p.m. today and continues 8:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Additional visitation will be at the church from 1 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to Houston River Baptist Church Building Fund, 110 W. Houston River Road, Sulphur, La. 70662, the family said.
