Burial
Obituary: Ivey Joseph George Guidry, 88, a life-long resident of Crowley passed away Friday, May 27, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Fr. Billy Massie, associate pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Mr. Guidry was born in Duson, Louisiana April 2, 1928. He served in the United States Navy and was on the naval cruiser the S.S. Lexington. Mr. Guidry worked in the television and radio industry for more than 40 years. Ivey was a pitcher for the Rice City Bombers where he earned the nickname "The Champ." Mr. Guidry was a Ham enthusiast with his code name "Blue Goose." He was co-owner with Claude Babineaux of Rice City Radio and Television Service. Ivey loved telling a good joke, was a great dancer, loved being with friends, hunted and was an avid fisherman. He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy F. Spell Guidry; his parents Ozair and Oraline S. Guidry; and one sister, Virginia G. Redeker. He is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Guidry Duck and her husband, Eric of Forest Hill, LA, and Robin Guidry Hearn and her husband, Frank of Magnolia, TX; two sons, Michael Scott Guidry and his wife Shirley of Crowley, and David Buffer Guidry of Crowley; one brother, R.J. "Pee Wee" Guidry of Crowley; one sister, Evelyn T. Guidry of Crowley; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Eric Duck, Corey Hearn, Charles "Chuck" Guidry, Branden Leger, Harvey "Sonny" Scruggs, and Joseph Sonnier. Honorary pallbearers will be R.J. Guidry, Steven Watson, William "Billy" Guidry, Clark M. Hoffpauer, Jr., and three good friends, Milo Nickel, Roy Lyons, Garland Leger.
