(25 Oct 1947 - 9 Jan 2003)

INDIAN BAYOU - On Jan. 9, 2003, the heavens parted and Errol W. Faulk was lifted by the loving arms of Jesus into the place where there is no pain - only peace. Born Oct. 25, 1947, he was 55 and a resident of Indian Bayou. He leaves behind to cherish his memories and carry on his legacy, his beloved wife, Wanda LeDoux Faulk; one daughter, Laurie A. Faulk, of Broussard; two sons, Robby W. Faulk and Joshua L. Faulk, both of Indian Bayou; his mother, Alma P. Faulk, of Crowley; two sisters, Trevlyn Faulk, of Crowley, and Jackie Schnee, of Lake Charles; and four brothers, Eddie Faulk, of Orange, Texas, Joe Faulk, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Malcolm Faulk, of Lake Charles, and Andy Faulk, of Crowley. He is also survived by his father and mother-in-law, Robert Gordon and Almeda LeDoux; and 19 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Dempsey Faulk; and his niece, Emili Faulk. From 1968 until 1974, Errol served with the U.S. Army as a medical specialist. He was a member of the Indian Bayou Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years, serving as chief from 1996 until 2001. Errol was also a member of the Indian Bayou United Methodist Church and the Cajun Hunting Retriever Club. He was a self-employed farmer. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Indian Bayou Methodist Church. Visitation will be observed from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. today at Indian Bayou Methodist Church and from 8 a.m. Saturday until service time. Pallbearers will be his four brothers; Jesse Lanclos; and Riley Comeaux. Honorary pallbearer is Cary Bastian, his nephew whom he thought of as another son. The family would like to extend thanks to Drs. Meza, Cain, Johnson and Bostick and their wonderfully caring staffs for their friendship and compassion during Errol's illness. Errol lived life to the fullest, was always willing to help others, had a wonderful sense of humor and never met a stranger. He was a great man. "Greatness is not found in possessions, power, position of prestige. It is discovered in truth, goodness, humility, service to others and character." Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley is in charge of the arrangements. (Daily Advertiser, 10 Jan 2003)
