Death

Obituary: HOFFPAUIR Calvin William Hoffpauir, M.D., passed away on Thursday, November 29 at East Jefferson General Hospital. He was 78 years old and a resident of Metairie, Louisiana. Beloved son of the late Will and Lily Hoffpauir of Lafayette, Louisiana; father of Stephan, Gregory, Rebecca and Kyle Hoffpauir; father-in-law of Lisa Deloach Hoffpauir and Laura Albano Hoffpauir; and grandfather of Joshua (deceased), John, David, Katherine, Joseph, Matthew, William, Maria, Peter, Anne, Cecilia and Karen Hoffpauir. He was also a loving friend, mentor and healer to many. Dr. Hoffpauir graduated from Louisiana State University School of Medicine, New Orleans, in 1955. He served as a pediatrician in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps from 1957 to 1959, attaining the rank of Captain. Dr. Hoffpauir later joined LSU Medical Center, where he practiced and taught medicine (pediatrics and infectious diseases) until 1985. After retiring from LSU, Dr. Hoffpauir went into private practice, which included several years working in pediatrics at Browne McHardy Clinic in Metairie. He also served as the pediatric medical director at the Wetmore Foundation Tuberculosis Clinic in New Orleans. He was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church Parish. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Monday, December 3, 2007 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning on Sunday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Monday morning from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
