Obituary: Ralph LeRoy Morgan, 75, of Lake Charles, LA died at 7:15 AM on Thursday, April 1, 2010 in a local hospital. Mr. Morgan was born March 21, 1935 in Mt. Vernon, IL, where he was raised and educated. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. A graduate of Sowela Tech, he has lived in Lake Charles for over fifty years. He worked as a mechanical engineer in the area Petro Chem Industry for over thirty years. Mr. Morgan was a member of the Lake Charles Civil Air Patrol and a charter member and Deacon at Tom Hebert Baptist Church. Mr. Morgan is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nell Hoffpauir Morgan of Lake Charles; daughters, Jackie Gillespie and husband Richard of Longville, LA and Julie Custer and husband Russell of Lake Charles; sister, Ferne Ramsey of Mt. Vernon, IL; and two grandsons, Joshua and James Custer, both of Lake Charles. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Gillespie. His funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend John Manning will officiate. Burial will follow in Hayes Cemetery in Hayes, LA. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
