Obituary: Kitchell "Pete" Petry, 92, of Orange, died Thursday, September 28, 2006, at The Meadows in Orange. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, with the Reverend Ron Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Orange. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Petry was born in Indian Bayou, Louisiana on April 28, 1914, to Archie and Lavenia (Sarver) Petry. In 1936, he married Stella (Faulk) Petry. While living in Crowley, Lousiana, he was a rice farmer. In 1942, the family moved to Orange and he began working at Consolidated Shipyard during WWII. After the war, he went to work at Modern Chevrolet and remained there until the business closed. He then worked for Major Inman until his retirement. He was a member of the Orange First Church of the Nazarene. Preceded in death by his wife, Stella Petry, and his granddaughter, Lani Davis, Mr. Petry is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Charles and Charlotte Petry of Vidor, Boyd Petry of Orange; daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Bob Davis of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Chuck Petry and Tara Crowson and her husband John, all of Vidor, Gina Fife and her husband Wesley, of Kirbyville, Tammy Birky and her husband Victor, of Fort Worth; great grandchildren, Blake, Hannah, Michael, Lanie and Lindse. Also surviving Mr. Petry are his sisters and brothers-in-law, Iris and Bob Wilson of Alpine, California, Dorothy and James Hoffpauir of Westlake, Louisiana, and Alma Faulk of Crowley.
