Obituary: Jennings: Funeral services for Yowla Doris Morgan Whiddon, 92, will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, La on Monday, January 11, 2010 @ 2:00 PM with Rev. Kenneth DeHart and Rev. Carl Rowell officiating. She passed away peacefully Thursday morning at the Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, January 10th from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will resume on Monday, January 11th at 8:00 AM until the time of her service. Mrs. Whiddon will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Alfred, in Greenwood Cemetery. Yowla Doris was born in Indian Bayou to the late Oscar & Mary Moss Morgan in the fall of 1917. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. Yowla was very devoted to her Heavenly Father and loved attending church services. She enjoyed reading the word of the Lord and would pray every night from 11:00 PM until 1:00 AM. Yowla enjoyed baking, especially homemade bread. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Leaving behind to cherish her memories are her beloved children, Merlin (Anna) Whiddon of Welsh, Nathan Whiddon of Evangeline, Frances (Carl) McClelland of Vinton, Elaine (Ray) O'Blanc of Evangeline, and Sandra (Butch) LaCombe also of Evangeline; one sister, Alti Ozio of Groves, TX; and her 15 beautiful grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred Whiddon; daughter, Rachel Guthrie; two brothers, J.B. Morgan and Owen Morgan; two sisters, Helen DeHart and Nellie Foreman; and great great grandbaby, Haylee Campbell. Carrying Mrs. Whiddon to her eternal resting place will be her beloved grandchildren.
