A memorial service for Frank King House Sr., 67, of Lake Charles, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, in Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St. The Rev. Roger Templeton will officiate. Visitation is from 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, for family, and 3-10 p.m. for family and friends, and from 8 a.m. Saturday. Frank died Monday, Dec. 22, in Burleson, Texas, of natural causes. He was born on Feb. 6, 1936, to Hiram House and Velma Laird House, and grew up in Dover, N.J. He married Theresa J. Symons on Dec. 1, 1956, in Wharton, N.J. They continued to live in New Jersey for many years and eventually made their home in Lake Charles in 1976. Frank ventured into many career endeavors, from running a successful tobacco shop, The Black Horse Smoke Shop, to his dedicated service to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Department. He was also an active 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. The Masons, or Masonic Temple, are the founders of the Shriner's Hospitals and the Shriner's Circuses throughout the United States. He temporarily retired, but was very discontented. He and his wife relocated to a more country setting in Burleson, where they managed a mini-storage/U-Haul. This was where they resided when he passed.
Frank is survived by his wife, Theresa Symons House; and his four children, Frank K. House Jr. and spouse, Blanche Whitsell House of Punta Gorda, Fla., Letitia A. Hoffpauir of Arlington, Texas, and Robert T. House and Deborah House Martin and spouse Lex M. Martin Sr., both of Lake Charles; and four grandchildren, Benjamin M. Hoffpauir and Ross T. Hoffpauir, both of Arlington, Texas, and Sarah E. House and Lex M. Martin Jr., both of Lake Charles. We all love him dearly and will join him one day in his new everlasting life. (LCAP 25 Dec 2003)
