Andrew Wayne Hoffpauir

Andrew Wayne Hoffpauir , 17, of Meridian, passed away April 16, 2001, after a courageous fight with Muscular Dystrophy with his parents by his side. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 20, 2001, at 1 p.m. at Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel, 3629 E. Ustick Rd., Meridian (between Cloverdale & Eagle Roads), conducted by Reverends Haywood Hoffpauir, Lowell Foster and Robert Anthony. Arrangements are by Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel, Meridian. Andy was born March 13, 1984, in Beaumont, Texas, to Gary and Shelley Hoffpauir. Andy was a very special child. Everyday of his life was a challenge that he greeted with a smile and a great sense of humor. He attended Joplin and Frontier Elementary Schools, Eagle Middle School and was a Sophomore at Eagle High School this year. One of his teachers wrote his parents, "It took me a while to figure out why God sent Andy here, it wasn't so much for Andy as for all of us." Anyone fortunate enough to have shared some part of Andy's life, will forever be blessed for having known him.
The family would like to express a very special thank you to Andy's care provider for the last nine years, Chris Laible. His love and compassion for Andy is gratefully appreciated. Also their sincere gratitude to Dr. "Bob" Friedman, Dr. William "B" Bourquard, Dr. Henry Thompson, Dr. David Bettis and Dr. Cathy Sandstrom for their care and comfort during Andy's short life.
Survivors include his parents, a brother, Dylan, grandmother Irma Jean Phillips, all of Meridian; and grandparents, Rev. Haywood and Helen Hoffpauir, of Sulphur, LA.; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and all his friends and teachers. Andy's family will miss him always but will remember the lessons he taught us about appreciating the little things. Make A Wish Foundation made it possible for Andy to meet Chuck Norris and spend the day on the set of Walker Texas Ranger and in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Make A Wish Foundation, 4355 W. Emerald, Boise, Idaho 83706.
