Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 30, 2001, at St. Joseph Church for Louis Stutes, 80, a retired custodian of South Rayne Elementary School, who died at his residence in Rayne, Sunday, April 29, 2001, a victim of prostate cancer. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Credeur Stutes, two sons: Milton Stutes and wife Mary Begnaud Stutes, and Patrick James Stutes and his companion Grace Romero, all of Rayne. One brother, Andrus Stutes and his wife, Zula Mae Richard Stutes, of Rayne. Five grandchildren: Brenda Stutes LaGrone, Dwayne, Eric, Jeremy and Corey Stutes, and five great grandchildren: Quinton and Joshua Thibodeaux, Maison and Casey and Abriel Stutes. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Melica Richard Stutes, and a brother and his wife, Eugene Gladys Romero Stutes. Visitation was Sunday from 3 p.m. till 10 p.m. and Monday at 8 a.m. till services. Gossen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
